This is Lawrence with his 1st King Salmon!

This trip began at 6:00 AM, when I picked up my client from his Motel. We headed down to the Sacramento River and launched at the Gravel Bar. There was not much going this morning... not much at all. We tried plugs of all colors, and still no biters, but there were fish everywhere! So, I decided to move upriver, where we found a pod of fish, but still no biters, that is, for a while... and then about 2:15, Lawrence hooked up with a 24 lb. hen! He had never before caught a King Salmon, anywhere! He was ecstatic, and it was a thrill to watch Lawrence pull in his Very First King Salmon!! We had a slow start, but this turned out to be a great trip, and we had fun!! Arrrrr Matey's! The River Pirate, Ken Hoffman

Jim and Martin joined Tony today, and everyone got an early start. We started our day at Mud Ball, just below Old Mouth, on the Sacramento River. On the first pass back trolling Kwick-Fish, we hooked 5 fish, and got 3 to the boat. The 1st was 28 pounds, the 2nd was 21 pounds, and the 3rd was 35 pounds. Tony brought in the 35 pounder! We then moved down river to Jellys Ferry, and started back trolling again. Tony suddenly yells Fish On, and he caught a 20 pound. hen! On the 2nd pass through Jellys Ferry, Martin yelled Fish On, and he brought in a 26 pound hen! We then went down to Two Rock, and Jim caught a 28 pounder! Then, my deck hand, (Jerry) had a turn and caught a nice 37 pounder! Jim, Martin and Tony, each brought in 2 salmon this trip. Everyone had a great time! Arrrrr Matey's! The River Pirate, Ken Hoffman

We got a late start today, as Tony was held up in Holiday traffic. We went to Lake California on the Sacramento River, and it was almost 3:30 P.M. by the time we got there. We started back trolling Kwick-Fish with a sardine wrap, and were getting nowhere. Then... as dusk was fast approaching, Tony yelled Fish on! After a good fight he pulled in a 25 pounder, and a short time later, the fight was on again! This time, it was a 19 lb. Buck! For a late day, with only enough time for one pass, this trip was certainly not a loss. Tony had 2 nice salmon and a big smile!

I picked Jerry up this morning about 8:00 AM, as he's not an early riser. On the way to the river, he informed me that if he couldn't catch a 40 pounder, he didn't want to keep any fish. Well... the fish gods were kind and delivered this 47 1/2 pounder to him. He caught 2 others, but true to his word, released them. Arrrrr Matey's, The River Pirate, Ken Hoffman

I met this fantastic group at the hotel in Anderson, at about 5:30 AM. They followed me to the river, and with much enthusiasm, we put to the water about 6:00 AM. After a short boat ride, we got to our destination where the fish were waiting... One hit, two hits... and then the fish began to be "user friendly". The fishing was good. I met Ed about at the boat ramp at about 2:00 PM for an afternoon trip. After about 10 minutes on the water, he tied into this chrome bright 23 pound buck. When he landed him, he said, "The salmon steaks are as good as on the barbe!" We had a short trip, but a great time, as we have on past trips together. Arrrrr Matey's, The River Pirate, Ken Hoffman

I picked Marty up at about 3:30 in the afternoon, as he wanted to relax and fish after work that day. We headed for the river, and after fishing about 30 minutes, he landed this beautiful silversided chrome bright hen. He had 2 others on. Marty was happy, and had a big smile!
